People come through my door for a variety of reasons. Some hope to resolve a failing marriage or partnership. Some seek healing for past wounds of childhood abuse. Some come because they are struggling with addictions in themselves or in someone they love. Some seek me out because of the alternative therapies I offer, Transpersonal Imagery, Dream work or EMDR. Whatever reason each person walks through the door, each holds a hope that I can be a catalyst for the transformation that is needed. I carry your hope as a sacred trust.
As a Transpersonal Psychotherapist, I join with you at the level of mind and spirit to tackle lifeís challenges. Together, we can discover keys to unlock answers, which I know are waiting in your heart. In that important, initial session, I will get to know you. I will listen to your story and the life you have lived. I will listen at a deeper level as well. I will listen to what your spirit, your True Self wants to say
I am often asked what transpersonal means and how that might set me apart from other psychotherapists. Transpersonal means beyond the personality. When you come to see me, I will look at you in a holistic frame work; as a physical, emotional, intellectual, familial and spiritual self. Transpersonal Psychology is a discipline which concerns itself with peak experiences, the development of spirit and the study of consciousness. Transpersonal is the context from which I work, it is not a technique. I employ many techniques other therapists do and I offer the therapeutic techniques which best suit your issues. Transpersonal is known as the fourth force in psychology. It follows in the footsteps of Freudís depth psychology, Behaviorism, and Humanism/ Existentialism. The field of Transpersonal Psychology is relatively new. The term transpersonal originated with Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist, in the early Twentieth Century. In the 1970ís, Transpersonal Psychology came into its own. That is to say, there are now several accredited institutions of higher learning which offer advanced degrees with an emphasis on Transpersonal Psychology.
Finally, what does this mean for you? It means I will view you in the widest, possible context. It also means you may bring your religious beliefs into therapy.
What concerns you matters to me. I will strive to serve you to the best of my ability. I limit my practice to a small number of people per day, in order to give my very best at each session. Your session will be an hour or longer in length.
A welcoming environment is what you will find at my office. Comfort, and a safe space to work, is important to the therapeutic process. After settling in on the sofa, you will have my focused attention on the matters that bring you to me.
